PARENT COUNSELLING

The role of parent counselling meetings is particularly important as it acts as a bridge between the parents and the child's psychotherapeutic process. Through these meetings the parents and the psychologist set common goals and ways of approaching the child’s difficulties, and thus provide a stable and supportive environment for the child to be able to improve his/her psycho-emotional state and behavior. These meetings can also provide a supportive environment for parent’s personal difficulties and concerns that may affect their child.

Parent counselling can also be provided in cases where a child does not receive psychotherapy services and the parents need counselling services for the management of their child’s difficulties.

An important factor of the psychotherapeutic process is the stability of these meetings and the presence of both parents.
